THE PROBLEM

Engineers face the challenge of developing complex 2D/3D meshes for analyzing real world geometries. Accurate geometry is an important component of the analysis. Without a close representation of the problem, the accuracy and reliability of the results is reduced.

Creating complex meshes for numerical analyses can be challenging, generating surface topography, a staged construction dam, a layered stratigraphy, an open pit excavations,, are not easy tasks.

THE SOLUTION

Geo Meshing is a complete solution for creating complex meshes for FLAC3D®/FLAC®. It has functionality to allow users to develop meshes for earth structures and excavations, but can also be used for meshing tunneling arrangements. It is flexible, because it uses a parametric approach, rather the most common 3D surface approach.

Geo Meshing, with its 3D module can create topographic surfaces from different sources. It can insert earth structures/excavations over complex surfaces, and quickly! It uses parallel processing for mesh generation. Likewise, simple 2D meshes can be created in no time.

Geo Meshing will simplify your meshing tasks.  Geo Meshing has a free use option, and it has several advantages over other meshing algorithms.

GEO MESHING 3D MAIN FEATURES

Layered meshGeo Meshing can automatically produce horizontal layers as it meshes bodies. In addition, it can name each layer with sequential designations, thus a construction sequence can be simulated.

Non-Chaotic mesh generationGeo Meshing creates, as much as possible, balanced meshes, where big contrast in element sizes and orientations are avoided.

Parametric body definitionGeo Meshing uses a parametric definition for creating a wide variety of bodies – without the need of a CAD assistance software.

CAD compatibilityGeo Meshing can extract polyline information from DXF files. Using this feature, a topography landform can be developed in minutes.

GID® compatibilityGeo Meshing reads 2D files created with GID® and imports them into Geo Meshing.

Meshing refinementGeo Meshing can refine meshes at any level within the model.

Interpolation algorithmsGeo Meshing includes 2 interpolation algorithms, inverse distance squared and Kriging for getting smooth surface profiles.

FlexibleGeo Meshing´s output files can be post processed and used with other software.

MultiprocessorGeo Meshing is a parallel processing software, allowing for faster mesh development.

Bing Maps Integration: Geo Meshing can obtain in real time topographic information from Bing Maps®. Using that information Geo Meshing can develop topographic surfaces of a remote site.

GEO MESHING 2D MAIN FEATURES

CAD compatibilityGeo Meshing can extract polyline information from DXF files. Using this feature, grid, ratios, elements sizes and model domain can be determined.

FlexibleGeo Meshing allows changing element size across the domain; allowing specific areas to have a greater resolution. Ratios for achieving refinement are internally computed.

Easy to editGeo Meshing generates a *.dat file that can be called from FLAC®. This file can be easily edited with any text editor for further analysis.
